Super Salt SEL BOURGET® is a deicing salt treated with CMH-30, that which gives it a greenish colour. The use of CMH-30 increases salt efficiency by improving adherence to the pavement and melting power, and reducing spreading rates, all of which result in substantial savings for the users with MINIMIZED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS. This salt has an immediate melting effect on snow and ice; it remains more efficient than non-treated salt at much lower temperatures. You can now have your salt treated at your own facilities or purchase Super Salt SEL BOURGET® directly from us.
CMH-30 FOR DEICING SALTS
CMH-30 is a mixture of liquid magnesium and calcium chloride at a concentration of 30% to which are added a corrosion inhibitor and a natural green colouring. This product, entirely fabricated in Québec, improves deicing salt efficiency. Using CMH-30 allows to reduce losses caused by the rebound effect during spreading as moistened salt adheres better and offers more resistance to attraction towards the shoulder created by the flow of vehicles.
CMH-30-treated salt reacts upon application. As treated salt contains the right amount of humidity, the activation period is much shorter than that of non-treated salt. The use of moistened salt results in safer roads and increased spreading efficiency. In addition, moistened salt is less corrosive for spreading equipment and infrastructures because CMH-30 contains a corrosion inhibitor that reduces the degree of corrosivity.
There are two different methods for using CMH-30, either as a solution prewetting or for moistening salt reserves.
During prewetting, CMH-30 is sprayed on salt in the truck right before the spreading operation. The selected liquid/salt application rate can be modified in the course of the work. The CMH-30 storage tanks are usually installed at the supply site to more easily fill the tanks fixed on the spreaders.
Moistening salt reserves is a simple and cost-effective technique as the handling is similar to that of non-treated salt. The salt and liquid are mixed in a mobile mixing unit; this equipment ensures monitoring of specific dosages and uniform coating of each grain of salt with CMH-30, thus keeping the stored products malleable and avoiding the formation of lumps (frozen salt).
In short, using CMH-30 increases salt efficiency and reduces application rates, thus resulting in substantial savings for users and MINIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS.
BOURGET ABRASIVE AND SOLUTION FOR MOISTENING ABRASIVE PRODUCTS
ABL-30 is a product specifically designed to moisten abrasive and road sand. This liquid is composed of a mixture of liquid magnesium and calcium chloride at a concentration of 30%, plus an additive from the agricultural field. ABL-30 covers each grain of abrasive, sand or other mix used for snow-removal operations in order to increase their efficiency while facilitating their handling.
Even if they are very useful to improve adherence to the pavement, abrasives may freeze and form lumps as they contain a certain amount of water. This is the reason users mix abrasives with salt in 5-10% proportions.
You can moisten your road abrasives or sand with ABL-30. The even covering of the grains keeps the product malleable at all times. Access to your stored products is thus maintained without adding salt, thus limiting the amount of chloride spread in the environment.
In addition, using ABL-30 limits losses due to the product bouncing towards the shoulder and makes your abrasives much more efficient that non-treated products. Moistening of abrasive and sand is usually done when piling the product at the storage site.
BOURGET ABRASIVE is a type AB-5 abrasive moistened with ABL-30. This material is superior to standard mixes containing 10% of salt as, contrary to sodium that is no longer effective in temperatures lower than -12°C, ABL-30 can withstand temperatures as low as -45°C. Moreover, you can now have your abrasives treated at the storage site or purchase pre-moistened abrasives from our Saint-Paul de Joliette facilities.
Les Entreprises Bourget offers a proven product that will meet the needs of all bulk carriers and snow-removal contractors.
In fact, we recommend the use of a release agent that will prevent materials from adhering to the dump box or spreader and thus reduce cleaning times. This product can withstand temperatures as low as 52 ºC and it contains a corrosion inhibitor.
You can either pick up the product at our plant located in Saint-Paul de Joliette or have it delivered directly into your tank. It is also offered in 20 litres (bucket), 205 litres (barrel), and 1000 litres (tote tank).

Creative approaches to the use of alternative materials—formerly considered wastes—have become increasingly more important nowadays. Fortunately, certain recycled materials are just as precious as the raw materials they replace. Contaminated materials may be stabilized with the addition of an asphalt or hydraulic (cement) binder. They can be reused in the foundations of various construction structures or as filler material.
